What is the specific difference between PCB and FPC?

PCB (Printed Circuit Board) is an important electronic component, a support for electronic components, and a provider of electrical connections for electronic components. Because it is made by electronic printing, it is called a "printed circuit board".

FPC: (flexible circuit board): referred to as "soft board", also known as "flexible circuit board", also known as "soft circuit board,  "FPC PCB" or "FPCB, Flexible and Rigid-Flex".

PCB generally uses FR4 as the substrate, also called hard board, which cannot be bent and flexed.
FPC generally uses PI as a substrate, which is a flexible material that can be bent and flexed arbitrarily.

Application industry
PCB is generally used in places where there is no need to bend and have relatively hard strength. Rigid circuit boards are mainly used in mobile phones, computer motherboard graphics cards, mobile phone batteries, multimeters, automobiles and other electronic products.

FPC generally operates on links that require repeated flexing and small parts, such as the flipped portion of the flip phone cover, the printer link to the print head, various modules (such as the display module on the motherboard), and the flexible circuit board. Used in electronic computers, communications, aerospace and home appliances industries.

Heat dissipation
Relative to a rigid wiring board, since the flexible printed circuit board has poor heat dissipation capability, it is necessary to provide a sufficient wire width.

With the development of light, thin, short and small products, some product PCBs can not meet the requirements very well, and will gradually use FPC to achieve. In short, FPC can understand the soft, flexible PCB.
